Upcoming TimeBank Events/Próximos eventos

Below are both events from UOC TimeBank and events hosted by some of our partner organizations that we think TimeBank members may be interested in.

All of these events are open to the public.

Full Calendar:

• December 7- New Member Orientation at 5:30 PM in our  orientation zoom room. Attending an orientation is required of all new TimeBank members. These short (usually less than an hour) meetings allow us to get to know you, answer any questions you might have, and show you how the TimeBank works!
• December 12- New Member Orientation at 5 PM at Vamanos Cafe (4444 W Vernor Hwy). This orientation will be primarily in Spanish. Attending an orientation is required of all new TimeBank members. These short (usually less than an hour) meetings allow us to get to know you, answer any questions you might have, and show you how the TimeBank works!
• December 14- New Member Orientation at 5 PM at Vamanos Cafe (4444 W Vernor Hwy). This orientation will be primarily in English. Attending an orientation is required of all new TimeBank members. These short (usually less than an hour) meetings allow us to get to know you, answer any questions you might have, and show you how the TimeBank works!
• December 16- We’ve partnered up with Vamonos Cafe to participate in their Southwest Posada event from 10am – 3pm at 4444 W. Vernor Hwy, this event is a great way to support small businesses for this holiday season, there would be a $2 entry fee and will be donated to the TimeBank.
• December 19- Family Game Night from 6-8 PM at Amanda’s House (1575 Military). Bring a dish to share for a potluck dinner or just bring yourself. All ages are welcome!
• December 28- Kwanzaa Cooking Class from 5-7 PM at Bridging Communities (6900 McGraw). Come learn how to make some delicious vegan dishes from Mama Ravin Regina Lawson for Kwanzaa! Mama Ravin will also share lots of great information about the Kwanzaa holiday and how it relates to our TimeBank core principles. TimeBank members can attend for free, non-TimeBank members must pay $9 to cover costs of supplies. Register here.
• January 2- Book Club Meeting at 6 PM at Mary Clare Duran’s House (4061 Porter). We will be discussing Homeward by Angela Jackson-Brown. Book is available as an e-book and an audiobook from the Detroit Public Library.

• January 11- Conversation about Palestine and Israel from 6-8 PM at a member’s home (RSVP to uoc.timebank@gmail.com or 313-451-0135 for more information). Our member Sofia is offering to host a space for respectful conversation and questions around the current conflict in Israel and Palestine. All are welcome to come and learn and share.

• January 16- Family Game Night from 6-8 PM at Amanda’s House (1575 Military). Bring a dish to share for a potluck dinner or just bring yourself. All ages are welcome!
• January 23- Monthly TimeBank Planning Meeting at 6 PM in our planning zoom link. These meetings are open to all our TimeBank members to hear about what is going on with the TimeBank and to contribute your ideas for events and projects. We always love to have new people involved.
